Kendall Charcoal Benjamin Moore

Kendall Charcoal – The Perfect Dark Neutral

I wanted to share a recent design win. These are rare and thus I believe should be celebrated. I've discovered a new (to me) Benjamin Moore paint color that I love. Kendall Charcoal. It's dark green grey and appears to go with everything. Therefore, I'm qualifying it as a neutral. It's so nice to be able to add color into a room without feeling overwhelming. (more…)

Free Room Layout And Design Service From The Comfort Of Your Home

Today I wanted to share with you a free design service I stumbled upon while listening to the Ballard Design Podcast, How To Decorate. The best part about this service, other than the fact that it is 100% free, is you don't have to leave the comfort of your home. Heck, you barely have to get off the couch. There will be a little bit of time and effort on your part, but mostly, it's Ballard doing all the work. I'll guide…

The Rebellion

Go ahead, do the opposite of what you're told. That's always smart. Sorry, talking to myself again. I digress. Not that long ago, I took a poll on Instagram (I know, I didn't know I could do it either!) where I asked my loyal family, friends and 5 random followers (thanks by the way) if I should paint or stain a recent project. The original post is here Thrifty TV Cabinet Repurpose. The majority ruled to "leave it raw" which…

Color Psychology and Home Decor

Anything in life that eliminates choices and streamlines decision-making gets a gold star in my book. While researching ways to make my blog look less like an elementary student's art project, I stumbled upon a woman and her branding business. This woman's name is Fiona Humberstone and she is a branding ninja. Most intriguing, is her approach. She uses color psychology to allow her clients to make branding decisions based upon their personality traits. As I was reading her books…

DIY Cabinet Doors

Have you ever had a vision? No, not of Michael Jackson in his prime serenading you with PYT. Not that type of vision. We've all had those types of visions. (Well, maybe not quite like that, that's kind of a strange one.) Anyways, I'm talking about a vision for your home. Ahhh, now we're talking. Inspiration comes from all around. For example, I gathered a ton of inspiration last Tuesday when I took my kids trick or treating. While they…
